Google Slides is one of the many apps in your Google suite! Slides is the app that is geared towards making a presentation out of any information or images you have (if you have used PowerPoint, this is the Google version). Just like the rest of your Google apps this can be used to create, edit, save and share all online! But how do we use it? Here are the basics:
Creating a New Slide
To begin creating a new Google Slide, head over to the app, and Under Start a new presentation you can click on any of the templates you see here! For this example, let's select Blank.

Editing a Slide
Now that you have created a new Google Slide, let's make it beautiful! A good place to start is your Theme. A theme affects the way that your presentation looks. From the background image, to the way your text boxes are shaped and organized, a theme can help manage your full presentation view.
In your Slide view you will see a list of different looking themes on the right side of the screen. You can choose any of these to start with, and change at any time! Your entire slide will change with your choice at any time. Click on one of the four that you see here, or grab that small grey scroll bar to the right of these themes and pull down to see the rest of the available options!

Once you have a great theme chosen we can begin adding content! You see how the main window shows "Click to add title" and "Click to add subtitle"? Click in either of these to begin typing in your own title and anything else you want, it is yours!

Want to edit the way your text looks? Maybe you want to make it Bold, underlined, center it or something else? Many of these quick tools are located above the main window in the bar shown below. Play around and see how you like it!

Before we get ANY FURTHER, let's add a title to your Slide presentation. Just like the rest of your Google apps, Slides saves all of your work automatically as you do it! Because of that we need a good name so that your presentation is easy to find later on.
To update your title all you have to do is click on Untitled presentation at the top left of your browser, and type in your new title! Click anywhere else in the page once you are happy with the title and it will be saved!

Adding More Slides
At this point you have a beautiful title slide! Hopefully you want more slides than this! To add a new slide you simply click The
icon at the top left under your Presentation title. This will add in a new slide below your newest slide!
But that icon will always add in a new slide with the same formatting. If you want to have different slides throughout you can click the
arrow next to the new slide icon. This opens a list of new slide options to choose from to vary up your presentation!

Adding an image
There are many ways you can add to your amazing Google Slides presentation, but let's end on adding an image. You can add in an image to ANY of your slides! The suggested way to find these is to grab images from your Google Drive or your computer.
Click on the
icon at the top of the page in the quick tools we mentioned earlier. This will pop up a small window where you can choose where to find your image. In the image below I am adding a couple images from my Google Drive!

In the window that opens on the right side of the screen you can select your images and click insert when you have selected the one you want! This will insert the image into the slide you are currently working on.

You may notice that your image is just dropped right into the middle of your slide. It is also probably not the size you want it to be. Click and drag the image to the location you want, and then click and drag the corners to resize the image as you wish!

Once you have all of your content added into all of your slides you are done! Click here to learn more on sharing your presentation, or here to learn how to upload it to a Canvas assignment!
