Securly is the choice for Oregon Charter Academy (ORCA) when it comes to filtering out adult, or unsafe content for students online. When students are on their ORCA supplied Chromebooks, Securly is already there to protect them! Whether it be inappropriate websites being blocked, or unsafe/mean emails being rejected from their inbox, Securly is there.
Securly works off of the users account in Chrome. All ORCA accounts are set up with Securly to install before the user even logs in. When working on an ORCA supplied Chromebook, the entire Chromebook is attached to this account! This means that Securly is protecting students as soon as they turn onto their new machine.
Note: The Securly filter does not function on personal devices. It is designed to work exclusively on school-issued Chromebook devices to monitor and filter student activity. If a student is using a personal device, their activity will not be tracked through Securly.
Since Securly is automatic, there is nothing you will need to do to set it up. You will receive an end of the week report on flagged and protected content for your student. Click here to learn more about these reports.
If you are a parent/guardian looking for more up to date info on exactly what your child is viewing on their Chromebook, you can learn all about the Securly parent portal here!
